Education Bureau’s Kick-off Ceremony of Work Experience Movement


On 18 November 2016, the Kick-off Ceremony of Work Experience Movement 2016 was held at Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Convention Centre 3. The Acting Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic China Deputy Director, Wang Zhi-wei, Hong Kong Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim and the participating business entitles had joined the ceremony. Mr Eddie Ng said that the major goal of life planning education was to allow young people to realise their potential, pursue their goals and aspirations, and make informed choices in the face of the diversified pathways in academic and career development nowadays. The life planning education is composed of three main components: “Development of self-awareness”, “Career exploration” and “Life-planning and management”. In the 2015/16 school year, the Movement had organized over 950 activities for 275,000 students with more than 140 commercial and community organisations participated. Mrs Carrie Lam mentioned in her speech that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government had all along placed great importance on the diversified development of young people. The Work Experience Movement is the highlight of the Business-School Partnership Programme.

ISL is honoured to be one of the business enterprises that has pledged to join the Movement. ISL values and support the young people in doing life-planning. Through life-planning education and the Business-School Partnership Programme, it is hoped that ISL can provide different kind of work experience opportunities for students and allow the students to be familiarised with various businesses and prepare themselves for the job market.
